The Tiny Moments That Make It All Worthwhile

Kids can give you the best and the worst parts of your day. And let me tell you, one of the best moments lately? Dropping off my two youngest at daycare.
Danielle is 6 months old, William is 2, and when they’d been going to school together for about a week, I changed our routine and dropped Danielle off first. I took her in, unbuckled her from the car seat, handed her to her teacher, and just like always, Danielle didn’t fuss—she’s happy to go, always. We waved, the classroom door closed, and I thought everything was smooth sailing.
Then I turned to William. He sat down on his butt… and then rolled onto the floor in a full-on silent fit.
I’ve never had a child who throws silent fits before, and honestly? They are amazing. No screaming, no attention-getting chaos—just a little limp noodle of a two-year-old refusing to move. I picked him up, held him up to the window where he could see Danielle happily playing with a toy, and just like that, he calmed down. Crisis averted.
Even now, two months later, when we drop Danielle off first, William insists I lift him to look through the window before he’s willing to walk to his classroom.
It’s moments like these that make the chaos, the tantrums, the mess, and the noise all worth it. Kids can be stubborn, loud, and messy—but they also give us these small, wholesome glimpses of joy. Watching your kids interact, see out for each other, or just show trust and love… it’s a reminder of why we have kids in the first place.
They remind us of simpler times, make us laugh, and even teach us a little about patience, empathy, and how to be better humans.
