What's In a Name? The Reason I Didn't Start Writing Sooner

I've been thinking about doing a mom blog for months. In my head, I've planned posts that will never be, because they are now long gone from my memory.

Why Didn't I start sooner?

I didn't have a good name. I still don't, by the way. I love "Mom of Many" but I looked online, it's been done and done and done again. I was trying to rhyme something with "six" for a while, like John and Kate + 8 or Cheaper by the Dozen, but nothing came to mind.

It's funny the things we let get in our way when it comes to starting projects, but sometimes we just have to trudge on.

I'm three posts in, have a grand total of zero views, (unless you count myself), and I'd be a dozen posts in if I hadn't let the name thing stop me. It sounds like there is a lesson in here somewhere.

Meanwhile, starting to write about this issue triggered the possible answer. something that makes me feel old that I didn't think of earlier.

ChatGPT

I promise I will not write my blogs with ChatGPT. I'm of the generation that is afraid AI will take over like something in The Matrix, but more than that, I write this to be real. Those Zero views that I've racked up over the past few days? That's ok. I'm really writing this for myself and whomever might accidentally stumble on it and gleam some happiness from it.

However, ChatGPT for a name? Let's see what it has to say.

In the middle of this post, I may have solved the issue that kept me from even starting this. So, win one for the big lesson here - Just Do It. I love a play on Half-Dozen Hugs, also Hot Mess, Blessed Nest and Full Hearts, Full House. We are definitely Beautifully Outnumbered too.

Of those, I asked ChatGPT to refine a Half-Dozen Hugs, and I got Six Sweet Smiles. That might just be the one. Let's try it on for size.

Sending sweet smiles your way,

Kristian

Life in our house is loud, messy and full of literally everything. Love, noise, laundry, laughter, and definitely could use a bit more grace. I'm happily married to my best friend, grounded in my Catholic faith, and fueled by five to six hours of sleep per night and adrenaline.

I try to find joy in the everyday — even when it's wild, because without the little bit of joy, this life would be unbearable. This space is for the moms in the middle of it all: the ones juggling family, faith, work, and wonder. The ones that need someone else's messy life to make their own seem better or somewhat normal. You're not alone, and you're doing better than you think.

Welcome to Six Sweet Smiles — where we celebrate the mess, the miracles, and everything in between.
