Rejection Sucks

My Rejection Waffle

I recently interviewed for a job that I thought I wanted until the actual interview happened. When I read the requisition, they had left out alot of what became visible when I actually spoke with the interview panel.

I told my husband, "That job would be absolute hell."

Would I have accepted had they made an offer? Truth be told, I'm not sure. It would've had to come with alot of incentives for me to do so.

The truth is, I'm tired of the tactical day to day filling out reports and the routine things that happen once a week.

That job. It was almost all routine things. No strategy, no real growth, just a promotion.

A few weeks later, I got the rejection email. The team had chosen someone else.

At first, I was relieved, really, I still am. Something better will come along.

But in the moment, the plain toaster waffles that I was making for my late breakfast turned into a waffle sundae. 10x the calories.

Rejection sucks, even when you don't want to be accepted.

By the way, moms, note the "boats" that we serve our snacks/quick bites in. These are excellent. They're cheaper than paper plates, use less material than paper plates and much harder for the little ones to spill things out of -- and -- still don't have to go in the dishwasher. We get them at Sams, but I'm sure other places carry them.

Until next time,

Kristian

Life in our house is loud, messy and full of literally everything. Love, noise, laundry, laughter, and definitely could use a bit more grace. I'm happily married to my best friend, grounded in my Catholic faith, and fueled by five to six hours of sleep per night and adrenaline.

I try to find joy in the everyday — even when it's wild, because without the little bit of joy, this life would be unbearable. This space is for the moms in the middle of it all: the ones juggling family, faith, work, and wonder. The ones that need someone else's messy life to make their own seem better or somewhat normal. You're not alone, and you're doing better than you think.

Welcome to Six Sweet Smiles — where we celebrate the mess, the miracles, and everything in between.
