Is it Really Winter?

I’m sitting in the school parking lot right now, watching the chaos of another Dallas cold snap unfold. Temperatures plummeted from literally 85–90 degrees down to 40–45. Overnight, it felt like we went from summer straight into winter.
Parents are bustling, kids are bundled in coats, scarves, and hats. Everyone is moving fast, trying to get into the warm. And here’s me, realizing I was in a hurry this morning. I told the boys to get in the car. It’s the third or fourth day of this cold streak, and I didn’t even think to tell them to bring their coats.
So here they are, my children, standing among all the other kids in full winter gear…and they’re in short sleeves. One has pants, thankfully, but their arms are bare. And I just think, well, at least they’re warm-ish in spirit. Or maybe they’re going to regret it the moment the wind hits them. Either way, they’re ready for the day in their own way.
Parenting is full of these little moments. You hurry, you forget, you shrug, and you keep moving. Some days, the “right” choice is simply showing up. And sometimes, you just laugh when your kids are walking around in shorts and short sleeves while everyone else looks like they just stepped out of a winter catalog.
This is exactly why I believe so deeply in luxury photography for women. Life is full of imperfections, chaos, and unexpected moments. Portraits become a space where you are celebrated, even if the world around you is messy, unpredictable, or cold. They capture who you are in the middle of life—not after you’ve “figured it out.” Spoiler alert: I don't think you ever figure it out.

Life in our house is loud, messy and full of literally everything. Love, noise, laundry, laughter, and definitely could use a bit more grace. I'm happily married to my best friend, grounded in my Catholic faith, and fueled by five to six hours of sleep per night and adrenaline.
I try to find joy in the everyday, even when it's wild, because without the little bit of joy, this life would be unbearable. This space is for the moms in the middle of it all, the ones juggling family, faith, work, and wonder. The ones that need someone else's messy life to make their own seem better or somewhat normal. You're not alone, and you're doing better than you think.
Welcome to Six Sweet Smiles, where we celebrate the mess, the miracles, and everything in between.
